TR080: Global Business Programme Structure

This Global Business Programme is a specialised business degree with an emphasis on developing the skillset for the global market. This distinct, direct entry programme integrates learning from eight key business themes to provide a comprehensive understanding of what is required for businesses operating globally.

The key pillars of the Global Business programme are a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, and relevant real-life business experience which will open up doors to the fascinating world of business. The course is designed for students who wish to establish a successful international business career or manage in a global business context.

Year 1: Junior Fresh

IMMERSING YOURSELF IN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF BUSINESS

In your first year, you will learn about the history and evolution of business, organisation and management, in order to establish and reinforce the principle that the pursuit of business is embedded in - and a central driver of - our complex global economy. Furthermore, you will start your self-development journey with the key quantitative and qualitative skills required for business in the 21st Century.

In addition to the six mandatory Business modules, you will choose one module from the list below. Students wishing to spend all or part of their third year studying abroad in a non-English speaking country should take a language module during their Fresh years.

BROADEN YOUR BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE TO INTERNATIONAL SETTINGS

Your second year gives you a thorough grounding in every core discipline of business theory and practice, from marketing to finance. You will benefit from the full resources of a globally networked institution. By taking a significant number of credits from other disciplines – from Law and Linguistics, to Geology or Psychology – you will have the unique opportunity to see how your thinking interacts with and is influenced by others, cultivating new insights that can only come through such interdisciplinarity.

In your Senior Sophister year, you will focus on at least one area of business expertise: studying your chosen subject in depth, taking advanced modules in the subject and undertaking a significant research project (Capstone) guided by one of our faculty or industry experts. Your work leads you into your chosen career path, be it finance, accounting, strategy or marketing.
