A new Trinity College staff information and support service was launched onNovember 27 last by the Vice Provost, Ruth Byrne.
The staff information and support service has been established to offer a practical resource, providing support over a wide range of areas including work-life balance, personal support, health and well-being. This resource is available to all staff – academic, research, administrative, library, technical, support staff – and their immediate family members in their household.
The Vice Provost, Professor Ruth Byrne, said at the launch of the new service: “The commitment and loyalty of staff in Trinity College is one of our most significant assets. We are committed to enhancing the Trinity experience for all staff and to continuing to nurture the values of respect and dignity for each staff member within our collegiate community.”
The service will be of particular interest to various groups of staff:
– All staff for typical day to day events such as getting married (budgeting, finding the venue), having children (pregnancy information, handling teenagers, juggling work and home), adopting, buying a new house and finding an estate agent, gaining a new promotion, handling conflict; gaining work life balance, staying healthy.– For everyone with a pension – making a will, handling tax returns.– For those with medical bills – drugs payment scheme information, claiming back medical bills on your tax. – New staff coming in to the country for the first time as they will be able to access information on relocating, the Irish health system and medical cards.– Existing staff with savings and investments maturing, or who require advice on money management, including budgeting, managing debt, credit card management.– Retiring staff can seek advice on social welfare issues, copying with change, financial planning.– For staff currently out of the College on career break/ maternity leave/ seeking flexible working / sick leave – child care, role changes, working out tax credits, n sick leave, returning to working,
The new service which is paid for fully by the College, is provided by Personal Performance Consultants Worldwide Ltd (PPC), one of the leading companies in this field. It guarantees total confidentiality and anonymity. The programme is entirely voluntary, and is designed to allow members of staff to seek confidential help on their own initiative. The telephone information lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The counselling services are booked via the telephone information line and appointments are made for the counsellors who are based in venues around Dublin.
