Chairman of the Peace Talks in Northern Ireland, Senator George Mitchell, received an honorary degree from Trinity College in recognition of his outstanding contribution to peace.
The honorary degree, Doctor in Laws, was conferred at a special ceremony in the college today (Friday May 1st).
Senator Mitchell will join the ranks of other international political figures to be conferred honorary degrees by Trinity College in recent times, such as Pérez de Cuéllar, Václav Havel and Mary Robinson.
