Trinity College Dublin will be closed from the end of business hours on Thursday December 23rd to the start of normal business hours on Tuesday January 4th 2022.
The following closure arrangements will apply:
Library & study spaces – Christmas and New Year period
Before your visit to the library, please check the website for the most up to date opening hours.
20 – 23 December inclusive
Libraries will operate shorter ‘out of term’ hours in the week running into the Christmas closure period. The Berkeley/Lecky/Ussher (BLU), Hamilton (HAM) and John Stearne Medical libraries will close at 5pm. Kinsella Hall and 1937 Reading Room will close at 10pm.
24 December – 3 January inclusive (Christmas Closure)
4 January 2022 – Reopening
Libraries, the 1937 Reading Room, Computer Rooms and JCR spaces will reopen and follow normal term-time opening hours. Stewarding as before Christmas of these spaces will continue until 21 January where it will be reviewed. This will help College staff and students safely navigate through a period of heightened assignment activity, Junior Fresh and Scholar examinations.

Security Advice
Ensure that all items of value are secured and out of sight, particularly in the case of ground floor offices and facilities. ?Petty cash boxes and small portable items such as laptops, cameras etc. should be securely stored in office safes and steel presses. ?Do not leave the keys containing such items in desk drawers or anywhere else in the office.
Ensure that all (external) door and window locking devices are in working order; if maintenance is required on these devices report it to Estates & Facilities Service Centre [email protected] without delay.
Check all offices / rooms and other facilities for security and / or other hazards prior to securing the building. Make sure that all external doors (including fire doors, if building is unoccupied on the day in question) and windows are properly secured before departing for the Christmas period.
Particular attention should be paid to securing ground floor doors and windows on the College perimeter i.e. Pearse St, Westland Row and Lincoln Place/South Leinster St., also 8 Westland Square, the building group at College Green/Foster Place, School of Nursing, D’Olier St. Clare Street, Fenian Street and the Trinity Centres for Health Sciences in St. James’ Hospital and AMNCH in Tallaght.
Mail Office
The mail room will be closed for receipt of mail from 14:00 on the 23rd of December 2021until 08:00 on the 4th January 2022. The first mail delivery will commence on the 5th of January 2022.

If access is required over the holiday, please use Safe Zone to allow you to get help in the event of an emergency, in line with the College’s Lone Working Policy.
