The finalists for the 2018 DatSci Awards were announced recently and the ADAPT Centre has been shortlisted for two projects under the category of ‘Best Contribution to Data Science by an Academic Research Body’. ADAPT will come up against research centres CeADAR and Lero to win the top prize which has been sponsored by First Data.
ADAPT’s two shortlisted entries showcase the novel technologies being developed within the Centre and the innovation that comes from collaborations with industry. The teams have developed solutions to address issues such as money-laundering and track developments in the highly dynamic data-technology landscape using Artificial Intelligence technologies, deep-learning and sentiment analysis.
The finalists will present to a panel of 24 judges on July 26th. One winner will be chosen per category and will be announced during the ceremony on September 7th to be held in Croke Park, Dublin.
The DatSci Awards were created to celebrate the very best of Data Science talent in Ireland as well as to bring the Irish and International Data Science Community closer together. The awards, hosted by Next Generation and title sponsor Deloitte in association with CeADAR, have seen a huge uplift in interest and applications are facing steep competition.
