The resource kits act as a support tool for both the Practice Educator and the student and should be used to support best practice in practice education and to provide direction in the case of queries/concerns. The resource kits support the implementation of the recently designed Practice Education Handbook which includes further details on all TCD Practice Education related information. Basic Practice Educator training and Advanced Practice Educator training are facilitated by the Practice Education Team biannually. These training days are free of charge and a CPD certificate is provided on completion. Advertisement for this event is sent to all placement sites on the TCD Practice Educator database. Practice Educators are also advised to let the PEC know via email if they are interested in future training.
Basic Practice Educator Training (biannual)This one-day course is for Occupational Therapists new to the role of Practice Educator or for those who would like to refresh their knowledge and skills. It aims to provide information on the Trinity undergraduate programme and develop Practice Educators’ knowledge and skills to facilitate student learning and assessment during practice education placements.

Advanced Practice Educator Training (biannual)The Trinity Practice Education Team coordinates and facilitates Advanced Practice Education workshops for experienced Practice Educators twice yearly. The content of such workshops is selected based on Practice Tutor and Practice Educator feedback and demand. These workshops also provide opportunities for discussion on any specific placement related queries and/or to provide feedback to the college-based Practice Education Team.
It is beneficial to acknowledge and appreciate your own learning style as well as that of the student in order to maximise the student’s learning. Prior to the student commencing his/her placement it is recommended to complete the Honey & Mumford Learning Styles Questionnaire.

During each Practice Education placement; 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students will have two return days to the Discipline of Occupational Therapy. These return days are typically organised for a half-day approximately half-way through the duration of the placement and on the last day of the practice education placement.Due to the shorter duration of the 1st year placement, the 1st year students will have one return day which is organised for immediately after the completion of the two-week placement, once the students return to academic lessons.The purpose of these review and debrief days are to:
