All students with mental health difficulties who register with the DS will have a needs assessment carried out by one of the Occupational Therapist (OT) and will receive on-going support throughout their time in Trinity from the OT.
Trinity also provides other mental health supports, these include Counselling, GP and Psychiatric Support. Student Services utilises a multi-disciplinary approach and is comprised of an experienced team of individuals who work to support students with complex disabilities, with the assistance of a Student Services Case Coordinator.
The Student Services Coordinator coordinates services designed to minimize the impact of mental illness or emotional distress on the academic and personal pursuits of students who have complex mental health difficulties through effective case management and the coordination of care between campus and community resources. The Student Services Case Coordinator role spans College Counselling, Disability and Health Services – primarily focusing on mental health to ensure the best outcomes for all students, in all areas of college life.
For students with mental health difficulty transitioning from CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), or with a diagnosis in later life - it is important to consider your options in terms of managing your mental health.

Occupational Therapy aims to enable you to participate in the activities that you want or need to do in your student life. It is a really practical approach, which focuses on working collaboratively with you in learning how to manage your health and well-being in college through the things you do. In your one-to-one meetings, you choose the areas you would find useful to work on, and you can either meet an OT over a short period of time to address a specific issue, or you can meet more regularly with your OT for ongoing support.
Free, confidential and non-judgmental support to registered students of Trinity College Dublin and the Marino Institute of Education, who are experiencing personal and/or academic concerns. The team of qualified counsellors support all Trinity students irrespective of age, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, gender identity and expression, marital or family status, religion, ethnicity or culture.
The Tutorial System in Trinity is the oldest student support service in College. The Senior Tutor's Office is responsible for the Tutorial Service and Tutorial Service Support Fund, and the various student hardship/financial assistance schemes of the College.

You can contact your tutor about anything and they will either offer advice or will be in a position to refer you to a more appropriate colleague in college. Details of your tutor can be found on your TCD student portal.
In the event of an Emergency that cannot wait, the Student Counselling Service has emergency appointments available every day. Students are asked to use this time for Emergencies only. Call us on (01) 8961407 and the counsellor on duty will call you back.
S2S is a student-led initiative designed to ensure any student in Trinity can get information and support from another student, find a friendly face to have a chat with and talk things through or just ask a few questions when you're not sure who to approach.
The College Health Service aims to take a holistic approach to Student Health and in addition to providing on-campus, primary health care for all full-time students it focuses on the psychological and occupational aspects of Student Health and Health Education. Student consultations are free of charge with modest charges for additional services. The Health Service has GPs, Practice Nurses, a College Psychiatrist and a Physio. As well as a Health Promotion Officer and admin staff.
Healthy Trinity is a cross-College partnership of projects to promote health in Trinity and includes resources such as the Healthy Trinity Online Tool to help maintain work-life balance throughout your degree and into your career.
