So you've decided that a micro-credential at Trinity College Dublin is the right choice for your upskilling journey – great! How do you apply and what do you need to know?
Trinity aims to provide students from all backgrounds with a pathway to higher education. For postgraduate level micro-credentials, applicants may have completed an undergraduate degree. However, some micro-credentials allow access based on evidence of relevant career experience and/or other formal learning in place of an undergraduate degree. Where relevant, this information will also be on the course information page.
While every applicant is required to upload a curriculum vitae, each micro-credential may have additional supporting documentation requirements which will be specified on the micro-credential course page.
All applicants whose first language is not English and who have not been educated through the medium of English must meet the general English language requirements for postgraduate level study at Trinity. These can be found here.
Please note that all Trinity micro-credentials are short courses and are not considered eligible programmes for a student visa (D study visa). Further information about studying in Ireland can be found on the Government of Ireland website.
Once you have found the micro-credential that is right for you, you'll need to locate the apply link near the bottom of the page. Some micro-credentials may have more than one apply link if they are being offered multiple times a year. Be sure to click the link that relates to the month and year you wish to study.
Once you click on the correct application link you will be re-directed to the my.tcd.ie application portal where you will be asked to fill out a short application form. Once you have submitted this, you will need to log back into the portal with the new login credentials and add your supporting documents. Briefly, the steps are:
1. Submit your personal details on the application form 2. Log in to the my.Trinity.ie portal with your (new) login credentials 3. Upload documents as required by the School, including a copy of your Curriculum Vitae

Each micro-credential has an associated fee which must be paid as part of the registration process. In some cases, there are differentiated fees based on EU and non-EU status. Please find the list of fees for micro-credentials here.
Currently, there is no application fee and no deposit required when applying and registering for a Trinity micro-credential.
In some cases, your employer may wish to pay your fees to enable you to undertake a micro-credential. If this is the case you will need to find out if they are already set up as an approved Trinity sponsor. If they are not then they can still sponsor you, but the process will be different. Some micro-credentials from The School of Engineering can be partially funded by the Immersive Technologies SkillNet, if you meet certain criteria.

To take up your place on your selected micro-credential you will need to register for your micro-credential, pay your fees and receive your student id card.
Once an invitation to register email has been sent to your Trinity email you will be able to register. This invitation to register will be sent to your mytcd.ie portal once you have accepted your offer. The Registration Guide will take you through the steps you need to complete.
